What Essential Oils Should I Use for Hemorrhoids?
Essential oils work surprisingly well for hemorrhoids (when used properly.) They really are a fantastic medicine for this ailment. Which is exciting information to find out!

- They improve blood circulation. There is a lot of back up of blood and waste material associated with hemorrhoids. Getting the blood moving is of utmost importance. The more swelling and constriction there is the less circulation. And less circulation means even more swelling. It’s a cycle.
- They pack a broad medicinal punch. Essential oils are complex medicine. They provide antibiotic effects, beneficial hormones as well as vitamins and nutrients.

hello Loren,
you look so happy and healthy, it is a very attractive image. if you have the time and in the spirit of sharing, here is my experience.
i have cruised many e o sites and gathered a lot of info in the seven years since i became paraplegic. many things changed then and i soon understood conventional medicine did not have all the answers . specifically regarding bacteria. and more specifically multi resistant bacteria.
many invasive procedures later, even using preventative antibiotics, i was left with continuous hospital acquired infections of one sort or the other. each time a stronger or newer antibiotic was required.
i tried e o topical applications but that did not work for me. so one day, having read some very interesting french websites (highly recommended) i decided to ingest one drop of myrtle oil in a blank capsule filled with carrier oil. within six hours i was free of my bladder infection. i continued this regime for three days. sadly the infection returned after a couple of months but this was still a fantastic result for me and i no longer had to use ANY antibiotics. i didn’t want to regularly ingest oils as i did not think this was safe, so…
after much research, i discovered erythritol. this comes in a product called truvia (i am not a salesman, promise). it is a sugar substitute. it travels through the body virtually unchanged and apparently has anti bacterial properties. it is excreted via the bladder and bowel.
alone, truvia does not stop a bladder infection. but taking the three day myrtle treatment followed by four cups of tea a day with erythritol (truvia) i am in my forth year antibiotic free. i only needed the myrtle twice in the first year and have not used it since. the erythritol appears to work as a preventative.
i do understand the dangers of e o ingestion. but this has worked for me with no side effects, i have regular blood tests for various things and everything is clear.
i love to grow myrtle as well, it is my second favourite plant next to buddleia the bee bush. i am an avid gardener in the concrete jungle called portsmouth uk (no wild horses here, just delinquent sapiens) and have always loved all plants. only relatively recently do i realise their full potential.
keep smiling,
ian
Hi Ian. Thank you very much for taking the time to comment and sharing your experience. It’s great to hear that you have found some natural tools to deal with your condition. I had not heard of erythritol or truvia. I will look into it more now. Again, thank you!
I had hemorrhoids and i’m consuming Hemorrhoidal Tea, well it works fine on me. Since i’m desperate to cure this, i wanna try this too. I hope my piles will completely goes away.

Loren– I have suffered with bleeding piles the past 6 months for the first time in my life . I have OIC, and the piles occurred after my first OIC incident prior to being diagnosed. I’m in constant pain, the itching is unbearable at times and I still have bleeding issues. Can you PLEASE suggest a recipe a bit stronger than 2 drops of lavender and geranium as I feel this will just be a waste of time and effort due to the severity of my current condition. Thank you so much —
Forgot to add – suppository seems to be the only effective application which is what I’m currently searching for
Thanks for leaving a comment Jean.
If you read the full post you’ll find more recipes than what you’ve mentioned. There’s a recipe specific for bad cases that includes a variety of oils, some quite potent.
Regards,
Loren
Thank you for responding. & im so sorry I wasn’t quite clear. I had read the above article twice before msging, and I did see the one for bad cases with bleeding. This is the one I was wondering if I could convert to a suppository recipe as that seems to be the only application type that provides any relief. The recipe you have in the article is for suppositories is using lavender and geranium. I’m honesty afraid, due to the severity that my hemmaroids will merely laugh at me because it won’t be potent enough to provide any relief. My dr is currently making an appointment with a specialist (surgeon) however until they get me worked on their schedule I need something to provide relief. I wasn’t sure if it was ok to use the oils listed in the potent “for bad cases – bleeding” internally, in a suppository application or not. Please advise and I do appreciate so much your assistance. Many Blessings
Hi again Jean. Due to the severity of your hemorrhoids I’d recommend checking in with your specialist first. I can’t say for sure whether using more potent oils as a suppository would be the best idea. Wish I could be of more help! Good luck.
Hi Jean, I found this recipe. Hope it can be helpful…

Or I just go to YouTube ripe suppositories with essential oils .
Good luck!! And God Bless!
I have had piles since I was pregnant with my 1st child 11 years ago. They (it?) flared up with subsequent pregnancies, but are for the most part benign. They aren’t painful. They rarely if ever bleed. Very few times they might itch but nothing worth doing anything about. Apart from during my pregnancies, I don’t have trouble going, am never constipated. But they are a nuisance and I would like to get rid of them. What would you suggest? I would love to take care of them naturally as opposed to surgery or something like that. I believe they can be healed with essential oils, just don’t know where to start since they aren’t bothering me and all the EO recipes I come across are to treat the problems.
That is awesome that there are ways to treat your varicose veins. I like your idea of using Helichrysum essential oil for healing and reducing varicose veins. Thank you for sharing different oils and blends.
hi i was just wondering what kind of pre moisten wipes can cleansing pads for the face work with water instead of the other or does it matter.
Hello I met in France a doctor specialized in essential oils you can research his books and website: docteur Daniel Penoel
And must I add.. great job on this page ! ?
Hi, I want to know about more natural treatments for hemorrhoids. Please let me know about those treatments. Thanks.
I read all the recipes but none mention how to reduce external piles swelling. What is ta recipe combination to reduce swelling? I noticed it said Lavender and Tea Tree are good for the swelling but I didn’t see how to make one using those. I need to know how many drops of the oils and ow much carrier oil is usel.
I REALLY need to know as well. I’ve read several pages on Tea Tree Oil, but it’s all about compounds and creams…I want to stick with just EO’s. My piles are worse than ever, and the past two days have tripled in size. I don’t want to go to the doc and him tell me I have to have surgery to remove them. I understand the surgery is quite painful and afterwards you feel like you have “to go” all the time. I have friends who have told me their experiences with the surgery and that they all have commented in needing surgery on a regular basis. I have Crohn’s Disease and piles is a constant problem, and the RX stuff just isn’t cutting it anymore. Thanks.
I use essential oils also… using a cotton make up pad I wet it with coconut oil and add geranium, frankincense, lavender and peppermint, Then place the pad on the piles and leave it there for a couple of hours. I do this a couple of times a day until the swelling goes down. I think the most I’ve had to use it is three days. Works wonders!
Hi, just wandering if the peppermint burned? I currently have a flare up and I have all these oils on hand. Thank you. Be well.
Hi, just wanted to thank you for all the advice in your site. I have used the recipe for bad cases with bleeding with the addition of 3 drops of tea tree oil for the last couple of months although bleeding was not my case.
I was impressed by the quick improvement I had. On the 3rd day I was pain free and I could carry on with my life. In fact it was either trying this recipe or going for a surgery. It’s not like they have dissapeared or they don’t come back depending on my cycle but at least most of the time it’s pain free. I have used the recipe during summer time which is by far the most dufficult time of the year in my case especially since the weather in south Europe can be quite scorching.
Thanks
Christina
I didn’t realize that hemorrhoids are varicose veins in the rectum. More specifically, you mention that they actually provide a function by maintaining separation between blood vessels and rectal tissue. I think it’s important to choose a doctor that has extensive experience in treating hemorrhoids since this is a sensitive area, and needs to be treated correctly.
I’m a big fan of witch hazel. It soothes the pain quickly.
Rectal prolapse can be rectified. Choices are accessible for Rectal Prolapse Natural Treatment, regardless of age and condition of the patient.Treatment relies on upon the age of the patient and the seriousness of the condition.
Hi everyone,
I have the external piles which are sometime so large I can not sit or walk. My remedy is a bottle half filled with castor oil, 5 drops of lavender oil and 5 drops of tee tree oil. I dip a super or normal size tampon in the bottle and let it soak up the oils. After cleaning the area and applying the oil first to relieve some pain, I then insert the tampon deep enough where it can’t be seen and leave in over night. This is the only method that gives me relief and keeps the piles inside as they should be. Of coarse a healthy diet, lots of fluids and exercises helps too. This method really works. Problems solve for days if diet is kept under control. But I will be checking with my doctor soon because I am not sure how toxic regular use of tampons are. Don’t forget to continuously train the anal muscles. This has helped pull the piles back in when needed.
Thanks for Sharing, Kelly. Good luck with your treatment strategies!
Hi. Is it ok to have burning sensation after applying lavender oil on the hemorrhoids? It lasts for hours. Thanks.
Hi Sam. You should probably dilute the oil more in a carrier oil to reduce discomfort. Coconut oil, for example.
Lots of useful ‘recipes’, thanks.
What would you recommend for general skin care for the anal area in between bouts (I get a combination of piles and anal fissures)? I’m thinking that with better skin care I could reduce the recurrences.
Thanks.
I have randomly had problems with hemorrhoids for years but in the last two weeks I have been miserable. I found this site and I am feeling better already. The recipe with the calendula cream- I went looking for calendula cream and realized that I already have some that I make myself. It takes 3 days to steep but I had it already. Added Geranium and cypress oils to a small pot of it and applied liberally. I think I may live. I reapply it regularly- every trip to the facilities- and oh wow! Thank you! I’m going to my bulk herb site to order more of the calendula mix and make more green goo! Thank you, again.
Thanks this is so helpful and appreciated.

My big respect. Can you please tell me, can internal hemorrhoid suppositories be used by children from almost 4 years of age? I thank you in advance for your answer.
Hi Milica. I know that children can use suppositories. But I am unsure about applying essential oil-based suppositories with children four and under. I hope you’re able to find that information! Good luck.
