14 Essential oils for Love Making, Sex Drive & Libido

Below you’ll learn about fourteen oils that I’ve singled out for their use in the bedroom.

Not every oil will resonate with you, of course.

Since we are working with aromatherapy here, and the general sense of smell (which is a very personal thing), you’re not likely to experience smells in the same way as anyone else.

Of course, there are some oils that are generally well-received for use in the bedroom because of their propensity to incite desirable emotions. But still, you might have an aversion to an oil for any number of reasons, and that’s okay!

Starting out a lovemaking session with a relaxing essential oil massage can really set the mood.

It helps shake off the mundane, daily stress-filled energies that we so often carry with us into the bedroom.

The world we live in today doesn’t put enough importance on relaxation. In fact, many of us knowingly strive and strain and run ourselves thin, day in and day out.

One of the best ways to improve sex and intimacy is to learn to relax. I don’t necessarily mean take it slow… you can have a relaxed passion that’s breathtakingly intense, too.

Focus on being slow and sensuous in the beginning stages of arousal can greatly enhance the peaks that you’ll encounter later. It will help you invite in the intense, passionate energy into your lovemaking later – without overstraining your nerves.

Below you’ll find some essential oils that are recommended for your sensual massage.

People carry many insecurities in to the bedroom. This results in a lot of tension and communication issues. I’ve chosen oils that are specifically tailored to creating ease in individuals who have emotional hangups, whether around sex or not.

The massage itself is calming to the nervous system, which makes it great for bonding and as a prerequisite to sex.

When you add some of the oils listed above into the mix, you’re sure to enhance your evening!

Making your massage oil

It’s recommended for a full body massage oil blend that you use around 50 drops of EOs per 4 ounces of carrier oil

(argan, coconut, sesame, sweet almond, jojoba, grapeseed, macadamia)

Essential oils for erectile dysfunction, Impotence, and General Male Arousal

Sexual disorders like impotency, ED (erectile dysfunction) and delayed ejaculation (DE) are an increasingly common complaint in modern relationships.

Why is this so?

As with most things, this is due to a variety of factors.

Exhaustion can play a role. Poor diet, as well.

There’s also the growing speculation that online pornography, which is highly stimulating and leads to frequent, draining, ejaculations, can affect a man’s arousal patterns and ability (or inability) to get an erection with a real-life partner.

Related: 15 Essential Oils for Anxiety & Stress Reduction

Many male minds have become oversaturated with highly stimulating pornographic images. As a result, their sex organs and glands can get depleted through excessive ejaculation.

There’s an idea that when the mind is tuned to extreme sexual situations on a screen, a man has a harder time getting an erection through real sex. The loss of sexual fluids via frequent ejaculation can also play a role, as it depleted the energy and makes it harder to perform.

There’s a term for the phenomenon, called PIED (porn-induced erectile dysfunction). If you are a man or are intimate with one, and ED a problem in an otherwise healthy body, you might consider reading up on PIED.

Pornography aside, sometimes all it takes high levels of stress in a man’s life (work stress, money concerns) along with high expectations for sexual performance can cause impotence or ED to develop.

The best thing to do when confronting ED in men is to take as much stress out of the equation when it comes to being intimate or having sex. Instead of focusing exclusively on sex, try a transition to loving touch and relaxed intimacy.

The following blend has been formulated specifically for reducing instances of ED.

Essential oils can increase sensual and sexual energy, that’s for sure. But they shouldn’t be relied upon in the case of a faltering sexual dynamic or personal sexual issues.

Sex, attraction, and arousal are complex, after all.

  • If you’re exhausted from your lifestyle, you’ll need to slow down to gather enough energy to fully enjoy sex.
  • If you’ve experienced trauma (of a sexual nature or not) and find yourself attracting the wrong kind of sexual energy into your life, you’ll want to seek focused healing.
  • If you grew up with sexual shame and your energy is restricted, leaving you unable to let go sexually/orgasmically, you’ll want to seek focused healing.

Essential oils can offer a whole lot of new fun into the bedroom, but it’s important to remember that sexual energy is very complex.

Is there an essential oil that can replace Sandalwood in the Affectionate Touch Blend that is less expensive? Thanks!

        1. Sandalwood’s copycat is equal parts of benzoin and cedarwood

  2. Hi,
With the blends you stated, aphrodisiac, anxiety, nervous exhaustion, etc…. how many drops of each do you put in? I am wondering more so about the aphrodisiac blend. 🙂

  3. Joel coleman

Your post is useful. I think ginger essential is good for increasing libido and sexual desires.

  4. So, on a real personal level, I was looking into something I saw advertised called Viarexin. It claims it’s made with all natural ingredients that have been used for centuries for increasing libidos , longer erreactions and even increases size. In short, no pun intended, just makes you larger and last longer. Is there no essential oil that would do that? Is that Viarexin just a scam?
I would like your thoughts on that. Any recommendations or suggestions would be appreciated

    1. Hi Larry, have you tried a penis pump? Maybe it will help?

  5. I found the article very informative and I thank you for the information. Hopefully, my husband will thank you as well! 😉

  6. What essential oil blends can be used in massage to increase libido

    1. What was that article hon.. I might be interested in that x

  7. Is it safe to combine all the ingredients in a dark colored bottle and shelve it until needed?

    1. Hi Andy. Yes no problem with that. Good way to store it!

    1. you could do it yourself, but no guarantees it would be an enjoyable combination!

  8. Awesome collection.. Some really inspiring, colorful designs!!

Hi I want to make my own perfume. I want to be sensual, tropical but someting that will attract the opposite sex. I want it to be wonderful. Not to fruity.

  11. Hello there, I really appreciated this article and its mindfulness on the complex, personal nature of a healthy sex life.
I am finding that something you mentioned at the end of your article stuck out to me:
“If you grew up with sexual shame and your energy is restricted, leaving you unable to let go sexually/orgasmically, you’ll want to seek focused healing.”
That’s really me. I have had problems with frigidity for most of my married life, and I really want to improve on this. My husband is loving and committed, he just doesn’t know how to help me.
Do you know any good articles, or resources on how to heal something so ingrained in the fabric of my soul? I have been doing some work with homeopathy, and I’m learning that I had a lot of shame growing up, which causes tension, restriction, and stiffness in my body and my social interactions.
Just wondering if you have any further thoughts on this.
I do see a counselor, but I’m not sure she is the right person to talk to about all this. She’s very straight-laced and logical, which is somewhat at odds with me. I’m learning that I’m more the artistic, a little out there type, interested in alternative medicine, and so on.
    Thank you for your time.
    Joy

    1. Hi Joy. Thank you for your detailed post. I’m sorry for your suffering. I would recommend looking into the book In an Unspoken voice by Peter Levine as well as the TRE (Trauma Release Exercises).

  12. Carol Jeanne

Aromatherapists do not recommend using milk as a carrier in the bath. Someone using EOs in the bath should mix with a carrier oil such as fco, almond, hemp, etc.

    1. Thanks for the comment Carol. That recipe comes straight from Valerie Ann Worwood. She’s an esteemed aromatherapist, but the book is a bit older, and perhaps she wouldn’t recommend this recipe anymore. I will look into it.
