Finding a working\u00a0treatment\u00a0for rosacea can be an incredibly difficult challenge.<\/p>\n
For one, certain treatments have been known to aggravate the condition (antibiotics and topical steroids, for example.)<\/p>\n
Then there’s the challenge of discerning the cause of your rosacea.<\/p>\n

Alcohol, stress, spicy foods and hot\/dry weather all have the potential to play a role as well.<\/p>\n
Once you’ve discovered a\u00a0probable cause for your rosacea, you’ll want\u00a0to give some different remedies a try.<\/p>\n
There are plenty of supplements that are available to boost\u00a0skin health for conditions like rosacea\u00a0– cod liver oil, vitamin k2, and gelatin – to name a few. And then there are more specific nutritional supplements that combat acute\u00a0deficiencies – like b-complex vitamins and iodine.\u00a0There are foods that can help a great deal as well. Cultured foods like kefir and sauerkraut are rich in probiotics and can help re-balance\u00a0your skin\u00a0from the inside out.<\/p>\n
This is all a lot to take in and it can be very frustrating to deal with – especially if you’ve already experienced failed attempts at healing your rosacea.<\/p>\n
Throughout\u00a0your treatment period\u00a0– while you are spending all this time, money and energy on curing yourself – your skin is continuing to flare up.<\/p>\n

While choosing the right skin care product is unlikely to entirely cure your rosacea, taking care of your skin with cleansing and nurturing essential oils can greatly reduce visible symptoms on\u00a0skin that’s being challenged by rosacea.<\/p>\n

As I’ve said, curing rosacea is a big challenge since the causes of\u00a0rosacea are still relatively unknown – at least there’s very little\u00a0conclusive evidence around causation.<\/p>\n
But what we can do while we work towards a cure is keep the physical manifestations somewhat at bay.<\/p>\n
The main symptoms of rosacea – inflammation, irritation (and the resulting anxiety, stress, and low self-esteem) can be diminished by using essential oils to keep the skin cool, reduce inflammation, constrict blood vessels and limit irritation.<\/p>\n
There are many essential oils and hydrosols that are especially useful for this task. The recipes below make use of the majority of them.<\/p>\n
Keep in mind when using the recipes below that any cleansers you use before or after applying these recipes should be gentle and nonabrasive.<\/p>\n

The following four recipes can be found in\u00a0Valerie Ann Worood’s book The Complete Book of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy<\/a>.<\/p>\n Valerie’s treatment protocol comes in two main stages – each treatment cycle lasting two weeks.<\/p>\n Ingredients:<\/p>\n Combine ingredients.<\/p>\n Apply to skin and leave to soak for five minutes. Dab excess oil off with a tissue.<\/p>\n Ingredients:<\/p>\n Combine ingredients.<\/p>\n In the evening apply your stage #1-night treatment after cleansing and rinsing. Leave on your skin for five minutes then wipe off excess oil.<\/p>\n Avoid using any other products during the period.<\/p>\n Ingredients:<\/p>\n Combine ingredients.<\/p>\n Apply to skin and leave to soak for five minutes. Dab excess oil off with a tissue.<\/p>\n Combine ingredients.<\/p>\n In the evening apply your stage 2-night treatment after cleansing and rinsing. Leave on your skin for five minutes then\u00a0remove excessive oil.<\/p>\n Now, on to some other rosacea recipes and treatments.<\/p>\n This is a simple recipe that leverages the facial steam method.<\/p>\n Ingredients:<\/p>\n Combine ingredients in a 2 oz glass bottle. Shake well before using.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This is a recipe from Olivia at essentialoilbenefits.com<\/p>\n Avoid this recipe if you are having an intense flare up and your skin is highly sensitive. It is a somewhat powerful recipe.<\/p>\n Ingredients:<\/p>\n Combine ingredients. This can be stored in a small bottle, 10ml size should be more than enough.
